Original Artworks for Sale by Jennifer Mitchell
I grew up on a small island in Northwest USA, and now create art in the beautiful town of Denmark, Western Australia.
I am deeply inspired by the contrasting landscapes of my two homes- one ancient and arid, and the other young and verdant. My previous career in Human Rights took me to five continents and included a focus on international justice, gender, equality, and first nations' rights, and these experiences continue to influence my artistic creations.
i primarily work in oils and acrylics, and love the way in which the rich texture and colour of these media remind us to see the beauty in everyday life.
My current project. She Drinks the Wild Air, is inspired by Ralph Waldo Emerson's timeless advice to "live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air". This project seeks to explore and celebrate the drive toward wilderness and wanderlust in our modern society, and examines feminine identity in wild spaces.
